What Does Happiness Look Like?

Happiness isn’t just a feeling; it’s a state of being that we have the ability to create, grow and enjoy in our daily lives. It’s not about being in a constant state of euphoria but about finding contentment and joy in the little moments that make life meaningful.

Happiness looks like a genuine smile, spending time with people you care about, or the satisfaction of completing a task you’ve been working on. It’s the peaceful feeling you get when you take a deep relaxing breathe or the excitement of learning something new. Happiness can be found in your daily routine, in ordinary moments of connection, and in the quiet times you spend with yourself.

So, how can you increase your happiness a little each day? Here are some ideas to help you “plus one” your happiness:

  1. Gratitude Practice: Begin each day by thinking of one thing you’re grateful for. It could be as simple as a you had a great sleep, your sheets are comfy or the aniticipation of the fun thing you have planned that day. This sets a positive tone for your day and elevates your mood, energy and vibration.

  2. Move Your Body: Physical activity releases endorphins, which are natural mood boosters. Whether it’s a brisk stroll, a relaxing stretching session, or dancing to your favourite song while getting ready for the day, find a way to get moving.

  3. Connect with Others: Reach out to a friend or loved one, even if it’s just a quick text. Social connections are very important to happiness as they can help relieve any loneliness or isolation that people can experience.

  4. Mindful Moments: Take a few minutes each day to be fully present - not thinking about the past or future but truly in that exact moment. Whether you’re eating, walking, or just sitting quietly, focus on the moment without distractions. Start small and set a timer for one minute to shut your eyes, focus on breathing and bringing focus back to breathe when the mind wanders…which it will do! The bringing it back each time is what builds the new habit and very much part of your transformation.

  5. Celebrate Small Wins: Did you check something off your to-do list? Take a moment to celebrate it. It might seem silly, but recognizing small achievements can build momentum for bigger successes. It’s a string of actions that leads to the goal so leverage one action help you get to the next!

By incorporating these small habits into your daily life, you’ll find that happiness isn’t something you have to chase—it’s something you create and experience.
