Uncover Your Path To
Hello and Welcome!
I'm Courtenay Edwardes, a counsellor and coach who believes that while each and every one of us has the answers within, we might need a little support along the way.
Counselling can provide people with many incredible benefits from improved self-confidence, communication skills and healthier relationships, to changing habits, removing limiting beliefs and moving one step closer to growth, health and wellness.
I understand that taking the first step can be hard, it is for me too. Let's connect over a short call (complimentary 15 mins) to see if I'm the right fit for your needs.
Services
If you have any questions about the services below, please feel free to reach out!
Meet & Greet Call - 15 mins
(The Seeds of Growth)
I truly appreciate the significance of cultivating a nurturing therapeutic relationship that can attentively address your unique needs. This preliminary conversation serves as a relaxed exploratory bridge for us to answer your questions, tackle any questions, and determine if we resonate as the perfect fit for your therapeutic journey.
First Intake Session - 90 mins
(Budding Breakthroughs)
In our first get-together, we'll dive into what's important to you - your goals, family background, and your physical, mental, and emotional health. We'll touch on any past experiences and addictions, and chat about your lifestyle in general. It's all about getting to know you better, figuring out the areas you might want to focus on in our sessions, and pinpointing the perfect place to kick off this journey together.
Following Sessions - 60 mins
(Harvesting The Healing Journey)
The 60-minute sessions will be conducted over video through the secure Jane App (phone calls can be an option too). Here you will find a safe, calm and judgment-free space to explore past experiences, current setbacks, internal chatter and future goals. My hope is that I can help educate, listen and gently challenge you while you work at your own pace to achieve the growth you're looking for one step at a time.

Empowerment through Empathy:
Client-Centred Sessions in a Judgment-Free Environment - Explore, Understand, and Heal
All sessions are client-centred, which means the client actively takes the reins while I provide support, information and guidance along the way.
I aim to provide a judgment-free space as I don't feel much healing taking place when judgement and self-criticism is present. I think it's important and more effective when we approach a healing journey from a place of kind awareness and curiosity.
Sessions can include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectable Behavioural Therapy (DBT) and Motivational Interviewing (MI) among other techniques and therapy types.
CBT is a type of talk therapy that explores how someone views themselves and the world around them, their automatic thoughts and the feelings and behaviours that result from those thoughts. A thought leads to a feeling leads to a behaviour. To adjust a behaviour, we explore the automatic thoughts.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
DBT takes a closer look at the emotions part of CBT and helps people accept themselves as they are, manage and tolerate stress, regulate emotions and implement mindfulness into their daily lives.
Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT)
MI can help people with self-efficacy, change behaviors, build self-confidence and recognition of small accomplishments which are the building blocks to bigger goals/desired changes.
Motivational Interviewing (MI)
I chose to become a counsellor because I am passionate about helping others and helping. Before counselling, I worked in Hospitality and Real Estate so transitioning to another industry and assisting other people felt natural. I've had success in my own journey with working on myself, understanding my emotions and being more self-aware. These tools have helped me achieve more happiness by understanding that it is possible and attainable.
My personal challenges along the way have included negative self-talk, limiting beliefs, anxiety, addiction, limited emotional regulation and lack of communication skills within personal relationships. I've made incredible changes once I came out of isolation, started talking more openly about my struggles with those I trust (including counselling), and choose to see myself through a lens of self-compassion.
Outside of work, you can find me doing things that someone 40 years older than me might be doing...grey hair and all! A bit of a homebody, I enjoy walks with my GIANT dog, hanging at home with my family, being a mom, finding humour in situations, making jewellery, dining out and exploring new places. I'm also getting pretty good at online Scrabble and who doesn't love Pickleball? Seriously, it's a fun game!
